Who? Community members are invited to discuss the role of what their values, beliefs and what they eat. Barbara Ross, the director of Social Concerns at the Diocese of Jefferson City, will lead the discussion. Ross has more than 20 years of experience in public policy and social advocacy with emphasis on family farming, food and agriculture.
What? A discussion, entitled “Ethical Eating” intends to look at “the ethical values behind what we eat from the perspectives that respect animal life and envision a sustainable world based on moral choices,” according to a news release. The topic was chosen in part for the upcoming of celebration of Thanksgiving, as well as a recent campaign by the Humane Society of the United States on the humane treatment of animals in regard to food.

The discussion is part of the Center for Religion and the Professions “Sects and the City” series and is co-sponsored by the Artisan. The goal of the series, according to Outreach Coordinator Amy White, is to “create a safe and inviting place to talk about religion in public and personal life.”
